I needed to leave current reality for a while, for my mental health. Robin Hobb never fails.
What's most interesting about this particular book/series? The notion of two sides of a person being forced to operate sort of independently but sharing a body is intriguing and well done. Also, magic, which is often a 'knowable' and controllable force in general fantasy is presented as an entity all its own. Unknowable but controlling. Fascinating approach to an often fumbled aspect of fantasy.
I also congratulate Cobb on the skill and concentration it must have taken to keep the pronouns and references straight throughout the writing, to make it possible to so clearly distinguish two largely independent forces sharing a single physical embodiment.
