In my top 5 novels by the grandmaster. In Everett's best, I think, the protagonists are frigging brilliant people living in a cruel society. I found myself racing through these pages the night before my wedding, looking for a place to store my anxieties, preferably in a great story, immersive and daring. SERIOUS MUSIC satiated. Again, this man deserves a Pulitzer.
